A Generous Buena Mano

Buena Mano is a Spanish word which means "Good Hand." It is a Filipino belief that the first "buyer/client" of the day is considered the "buena mano." Filipino entrepreneurs are strict when it comes to the first transaction of the day. Many believes that patting the goods with the money received on the first sale of the day, will bring good luck and greater sales.

If you happen to be the first buyer (buena mano), pay in cash and don't ask for too much discount for these may bring bad luck to the business for the rest of the day.

Since Buena Mano means Good Hand, why don't we all practice it with it's literal meaning? Why don't the buena mano, the first sale of the day be a generous sale? This means generously giving a merchandise first thing in the morning. If you own a bakeshop, try giving a piece of bread to the old lady passing by, fist thing in the morning. If you own a convenient store, why not give a free coffee to the first man who's going to pass by?  If you own a restaurant, why not  provide free breakfast to random employees?

Winston Churchill once said that "We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give". And don't we all want to experience life?

God even said "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you". Luke 6:38

This is the kind of Buena Mano that I would proudly pass to the next generations to come...
